KZ GR
ø10mm Dynamic Driver
There was some hype among budget earphone enthusiasts about these earphones, so I had to see what the hype is all about. I still don't understand. Good looking earphones that sound below avarage. No detail precision at all. The vocals and highs are overemphasized and harsh, very painful to listen to.
NOTE: The filters included with KZ ED9 and Winintone RG-EB601 can also be used with these earphones for additional sound signatures.
Pros
- Nice bass response, but not extraordinary.
- A pretty good build quality.
Cons
- Excessively loud and unclear mids and highs. Very sibilant vocals.
- Whether you get the retail box or not, you won't like it either way. The included tips are cheap and dust sticks to them all the time.
Ear Tips - Single-Flange:
Filters*:
Black (bassy signature)
Red (bassless signature)
- The red filters are simply useless and won't be analized further.
Housings:
Metal, ø6mm switchable nozzles (ø3mm bores), soft strain reliefs
Cable:
Silicone-coated (smooth), 113cm, soft, straight
Plug:
TPE, 90° angled, long, soft strain relief
The GR are quite heavy so even if you have well-fitting tips, they still might fall out. Also, they are long because of the filters, so they stick out of your ears.
With the black filters, the bass is actually pretty good, slighty punchy but nothing extraordinary. With the red filters, the bass is absent completely.
Loud but has no clarity. Inaccurate tone with a lot of sibilance with both filters, maybe slightly better with the [otherwise useless] red filters.
Can be painfully piercing with both filters but it's never accurate, not even close to being accurate. Very fatiguing.
