ROCK Y5 (RAU0529)
ø12mm Dynamic Driver
The ROCK brand is a legend in our small community. They keep releasing stuff, probably hoping to replicate the continous success of ROCK Zircon, and they usually fail at any attempt. This time it's slightly different. This joint operation of ROCK with "LavaRock" (whoever that is) presented us with a great pair for both vocal-oriented music and heavy bass response.
NOTE: In order to get the intended sound quality, you may have to manually seal up the vents next to the nozzles!
Pros
- The mids are nicely pronounced, probably the closest you can get to earbud-like sound.
- Deep and thunderous bass (when you achieve a proper seal).
- Extremely comfortable to wear.
- The build quality is basic, but effective and looks durable enough.
Cons
- Are not the most accurate earphones, and the bass can be overpowering sometimes.
- Very difficult to achieve a proper seal, and even when you're sure that you have a seal, you'll get no lows at all. You'll have to seal the vents next to the nozzles in order to fix this issue permanently.

I was sure I had a perfect seal, and I wasn't wrong. They sit well inside the ear, but I couldn't hear any bass. The reason is that the vents next to the nozzles are supposed to be covered up by your ears, which doesn't happen, so I had to manually seal these vents. After that, these earphones are perfectly comfortable.
Take note: If you don't hear the bass properly - you have to seal up the vents next to the nozzles. Once that is done, the bass is very deep, both mid-bass and sub-bass. It could, however, leak a bit into the mids, as usual with single-driver earphones with deep bass response.
The mids are upfront and warm. They have an earbud-like tone and power, as expected from the huge ø12mm drivers. Vocals and instruments sound a bit discolored, like a more shrill, less accurate version of the popular VE Monk, but overall, it's quite impressive for the price.
The highs are loud and clear. They are quite comfortably tuned to be sibilance-free but also lack any extraordinary detail. Nevertheless, these highs will satisfy most listeners who care about enjoyable sound more than extremely sharp or detailed sound.
