Ivery IV-8

ø8mm Dynamic Driver

4.0/5.0

The interesting trumpet-style IV-8 by Ivery looks simple but interesting. After listening different styles of music with them, I can definitely say that even with Ivery's generic overused designs, they definitely know how to provide exceptional sound quality. However, they still have much to improve on the quality assurance.

Pros

  • Massive bass response, perfect for electronic music.
  • Crisp mids and highs, great for vocal-based music.
  • Very solid build quality, as usual with the Ivery's IV series.

Cons

  • As usual with Ivery products, the QA isn't that great. There's a noticable disbalance between the channels, as can be seen by the graphs.
  • The bass sometimes overwhelms the mids and highs, depends on the source.
  • Being thin and long, they don't use the shape of the ear to stay firm, so it all up to the tips you use to keep them inside your ear canals.

Comfort & Fit

Not the best in the comfort department. They don't lean against your ear and depend only on the tips to hold in place.

Lows / Bass

The bass is powerful and warm, with plenty of sub-bass to shake your ear drums.

Mids / Vocals

Very crisp and loud mids, clear vocals and pretty detailed instruments. Can be slightly sibilant because of the peak in the highs.

Highs / Treble

Crisp and pleasant, but can be pushed back sometimes by the bass, especially in hip-hop. On certain parts can be slightly sibilant because of the peak in the high frequencies.
