Zermie ZM-2000

ø10mm Dynamic Driver

$10~$15
3.0/5.0

The beautifully designed ZM-2000 are great to look at and are comfortable to wear. Their sound, however, is nothing more than mediocre. The bass is powerful and deep, so powerful that it's overwhelming. The mids are recessed and quite discolored, while the highs are muffled and smoothened out. No impressive detail can be heard with these earphones.

It's a sad thing, really, because these earphones had the potential to be a favorite amongst ROCK Zircon users.

ZM-2000 are very similar to ZM-1001, with a bit more relaxed bass and perhaps a bit more defined mids, probably thanks to the different housing (which is also slightly smaller). But overall, I find them to be quite the same to my perception.

Also known as: Bonks X10 (Compact)

Pros

  • Deep and powerful bass response for EDM lovers.
  • Modern and almost premium design. A true eye-candy.
  • Excellent level of comfort.

Cons

  • The mids and highs leave a lot of room for improvement. They sound cheap.
  • The bass is of a typically extreme V-shape kind - boomy and muddy, overwhelms everything else.
  • Just like on ROCK Zircon, the cable is thin and has no strain reliefs, hence might be fragile.

Lows / Bass

Deep and boomy bass that overwhelms everything else. Quite muddy even though it's mainly focused on the sub-bass rather than mid-bass, but there's just too much of both. Slightly more relaxed than ZM-1001's bass.

Mids / Vocals

Cheap-sounding mids that are overwhelmed by the huge bass response. Electronic music lovers will probably not complain, yet if you care about the mids at all, these earphones are not about to impress you. "Mediocre" is the best word to descibe these earphones.

Highs / Treble

The highs sound muffled and compressed, and detail is being mixed down to a mishmash of a cheap sounding treble. Although not horrible, they are still underemphasized and lack a proper timbre - they are darkish and unremarkable.
