VJJB N1

2 × ø6mm Dynamic Drivers

$20~$25
3.5/5.0

Seems like VJJB are not done with trying to impress us. The amazing VJJB K4, which had slightly piercing highs, were already close to perfection, and the N1 attempt to push the potential forward.

The N1 are not bad earphones, but they lack the vividness we learned to enjoy with the K4. At the very least, these earphones will potentially serve for years, thanks to their replaceable cable (and you get two of them!), which is super-durable as it is!

Pros

  • A very fun-sounding pair of earphones. Doesn't shy of bass.
  • Despite being very light, they are highly well built. Definitely will serve for a long time, if treated well.
  • Extremely comfortable to wear.
  • As usual, excellent packaging, accessories and presentation by VJJB.

Cons

  • Noticeable lack in treble, especially on low-powered or bassy sources.
  • VJJB should have used standard MMCX connectors instead of those proprietary ones, just so customizing would be more accessible.

Comfort & Fit

Extremely comfortable earphones. Their shape is perfect for the ears. It offers a firm hold and seal with all of the included tips. Just make sure you push them in properly to hear the actual bass richness. Once you learn to position these earphones correctly in your ears, you'll soon forget about their presence in your ears at all.

Lows / Bass

The lows are amazing (make sure you position the earphones properly). They are quick and precise, rich with mid-bass that feed the upper frequencies. I would say that they are perfect for most vocal-oriented music and acoustic instruments, as well as electronic music. The sub-bass, however, might feel a bit lacking.

Mids / Vocals

The mids are a bit darkish, not too much, but still lack a bit of shininess. However, there's absolutely no sudden peaks, no harshness and definitely no sibilance.

Highs / Treble

Just like the mids, the highs are somewhere between neutral and darkish. Their peaks are quite subtle, thus no harshness and no piercing sounds can be heard. If you're sensitive to sharp highs, you might find these highs very pleasant and not fatiguing.
