I-INTO i8

ø10mm + 2 × ø6mm Dynamic Drivers

$15~$20
4.5/5.0

The mysterious I-INTO i8 are not known among the international market, and you probably hear about them for the first time... well then, listen closely - these earphones are amazing. By default, they are quite bassy; that 10mm back driver is a monster. However, if you want some lighter bass, you can easily tune it down with any equalizer. What you get then are purely amazing mids and highs. Unlike other bassy earphones, the mids and highs on these earphones are in perfect balance and have excellent clarity. These mids are very impressive and exceeded all of my expectations, considering the build quality, overall sound capability and price point.

Those are earphones every enthusiast has to try and experiment on with the equalizer settings. The results you can achieve with these easily beat higher-priced earphones.

These earphones get my respect not for being perfect in their default state, because they are not perfect. They get my respect for their superb flexibility when it comes to tuning them to your preferred sound. Want a bassy sound? You got it. Want a mid-centric sound? Easily achievable.

Comfort & Fit

The shape is about the same as VJJB V1, and similarly-designed earphones, which means super-comfortable to wear for very long listening sessions. The usual style of wearing is cable straight down. However, if you got some attachable ear loops, you can also wear them over-the-ear, and I found the bass to be more relaxed with that fit. These earphones actually benefit from an incomplete seal, as it helps make them brighter and cooler.

Lows / Bass

Very extended bass response with a lot of impact. There is no specific emphasis on any particular frequency range within the bass; the whole bass range is evenly boosted. For some, this bass is perfect, especially for electronic music. For vocal-oriented music genres, the bass might be just a bit too much, but that can easily be fixed with an equalizer. The stock bass response can give the impression of leakage into the mids, but in reality, the mids are well defined and not that recessed compared to most bassy earphones out there. The leakage is only perceptual.

Mids / Vocals

Well defined and not recessed in a way you would expect warm and bassy earphones to be. Tonally quite accurate, not dark and not bright, and also not too forward, which gives the impression of a larger stage. Being very responsive to equalization, you can easily make the mids shine by decreasing some of the mid-bass.

Highs / Treble

While being tonally neutral, the highs aren't the most audiophile-grade, but they easily beat most earphones out there. The highs sound like a calmer/smoother version of the sharp highs of TinAudio T2. Very comfortable to listen for multiple hours without any fatigue. I'm very pleased.
